Mid-Week Worship

Compline Prayer is an ancient, contemplative form of prayer service, given to us by the Benedictine Christian tradition. The service is about 30 minutes long, and is contemplative and calming in character. It provides an opportunity to reflect on the day gone past, and to pray for God’s peace as we begin our night’s rest. No-one will be required to pray aloud, and all are welcome, regardless of experience. Takes place on the first and third Wednesday of the month, at 7:30 pm.

We gather at the church for a service of contemporary evening prayer, following a format from the Church of England. You can preview the liturgy we use here. The liturgy allows men to follow along in the service without having to pray aloud, unless they wish to. We pray for the needs of the church and world, but also for ourselves and families.

This time of prayer is followed by a beverage at the Royal Canadian Legion next door. Some have a beer, others a soda. The atmosphere throughout is relaxed and informal.
