Bearing Fruit in the World

Attending Sunday church services in Barrhaven can be a challenge. Our lives are busy, and it’s can seem a bit frightening walking through the doors of a new church. That’s why we’ve worked hard to make our Sunday services accessible to newcomers, even if they’ve never been in an Anglican church before. To help you feel comfortable, here are a few things you’ll want to know about our worship services before you visit.

As you enter, you’ll receive a service bulletin which helps explain details of the service. We’re a small church, so it’s easy to find your way to the washrooms, coffee room and children’s ministry areas. There’s also no dress code, and most people dress casually.

Each Sunday service lasts a little over an hour. Like most Anglican churches, we use a liturgy. This is a regular order of service, with prayers and bible readings which change from week to week. The service uses modern language, and the words to our prayers and the songs we sing are all projected on a screen for easy use. Music is led by our live band, and features a blend of modern songs and more traditional hymns.

Each week features a sermon which focuses on the bible lessons of the day, and connects them to our daily life. You can listen to our sermon recordings here, to get a feel for what they’re like. The service finishes with Communion (also known as the Mass or the Eucharist).

Services include all ages, and we provide programs during the service for young people. You can find out more about our children and youth ministry here

Refreshments are served at coffee hour after the service. It’s a great chance to get to know us better. We  really hope to see you there!
