Friendship & Spiritual Growth

Small Groups

Friendship, encouragement and faith formation.

HOME GROUPS

Sunday morning is a time to for the whole church to join together in celebration. It’s a time to worship God,  and to get to know others. Home groups meet throughout the week to provide a smaller, more informal setting for friendships and faith to deepen. Groups usually involve food, conversation and study of the bible or other significant book. They’re a great way to get connected to the church and to other people of faith.

Men's Ministry

Today’s statistics tell us that men are now less likely to be involved in Church than ever before. They are also less likely to form friendships and other support networks than in the past. Good Shepherd’s men’s ministry helps men reverse this trend through creating spaces where friendship and camaraderie can develop naturally. Our men come from different backgrounds and ages, but get together regularly to encourage each other to become better men.

Prayer & Pint is a regular service of evening prayer held at 7:15pm on the last Monday of each month. This time of prayer is followed by a beverage at the Royal Canadian Legion next door. A conversation topic is chosen for each month. The atmosphere throughout is relaxed and informal. It’s ideal for inviting a buddy.

Men’s breakfast is an informal monthly breakfast, held on the second Saturday at Colonnade Pizza on Greenbank. It’s a time to catch up with friends, have a meal, and plan service projects.

We also enjoy special events, like our Algonquin Park canoe trip and our annual homebrew day. Check out the events calendar to find out what’s coming up.

Women's Ministry

The modern world doesn’t make it easy to form friendships. It also doesn’t make it easy to find places to be yourself. This can be particularly challenging for women today, who face unique challenges in balancing work, relationships, family and faith. Our women’s ministries help women learn from each other how to navigate the challenges they face, and does so in an atmosphere of friendship, fun and spiritual depth.

We meet monthly, doing things like going out for breakfast, praying together, attending concerts, crafting or taking a stroll through a local park. Group members contribute to our planning for future events to help us hit the right balance of spiritual, social and creative activities. Most of all, we have fun, forming deeper friendships with God and with each other. Contact the Church for more info, and check out the events section to watch for what’s coming up.
