New Here

Sunday worship is the highlight of our Church week, and where most people first get to meet us.  So what’s in store for you when you visit?

Front4Our Sunday services are at 9:30 am & 11 am. We’re located in the Barrhaven Crossing mall on 3500 Fallowfield Rd. (unit 5, between the optometrist’s shop and the Porto a Casa restaurant), so parking is available in the mall parking lot. We’re also handicap accessible.

DSC_2654When you arrive an usher will greet you, help you find a seat and answer any preliminary questions you may have. Don’t worry if you don’t know exactly when to sit or stand (it isn’t really that important), and only join in the service when you feel comfortable.

We use a large screen TV to display the prayers we use and lyrics to the songs we sing. The service is lively and uses modern language.

What about the kids?

DSC_2793If you are bringing children, you may be interested in having them attend our Sunday Kids’ Club during the service. This program is offered at both Sunday services and is geared to children aged 3 -11. It’s led by a dedicated team of teachers. Children are invited to meet before the service in the Sunday Club room (this doubles as the coffee room). Signs are posted in the church worship space. The kids come back when it’s time for communion. Parents are welcome to check on them at any time.

Youth group meets during the 11am service, located in one of the rooms behind the church worship space. This is a time of lively conversation and discussion, led by a team of volunteers.

Little Girl SmilingFor toddlers and infants, a nursery area is available as well. It is located in the clergy office, next to the church worship space. This is a friendly space for parents and kids who would like a bit of space on their own during the service. The clear glass walls allow parents to view the service when attending the nursery.

What about communion?

Communion, also known as the Eucharist or the Mass, is an important part of our Christian tradition, so all baptized Christians are invited to join us–even if this isn’t your church home. If you’d rather not receive, simply remain in your seat for a time of reflection or come forward to ask for a prayer from our minister instead.

What about the collection?

We usually take up a money collection during the service, and proceeds go toward financing our church’s various operations. But the collection is meant primarily for our regular members. If you’re visiting, you are our guest–so don’t feel obligated to give! No-one will expect you to.

How long is the service?

The services are usually 1 hour long. We hold coffee hour between the services (starting at 10:30am). This is a time for snacks and conversation. Occasionally, we also hold lunches, meetings or other special events following the later service. All are always welcome.

What should I wear?

DSC_2695We don’t have a dress code. People who attend usually wear “smart casual”, so go with what seems right for you.

Have a question we haven’t answered here? Just ask!  E-mail Paula (our church secretary), give us a call at (613) 823-8118, or better yet–drop in and see us.
